Hank Bates hails from Cottonwood Heights, Utah, where he spends a significant amount of time in the Wasatch Mountains. At the age of two, he was introduced to skiing by both of his parents at Snowbird. By the time Hank reached his teenage years, he was competing in both freeride and the alpine racing disciplines and attended the Winter Sports School for his high school education. A graduate of the University of Utah, he competed in Freeride World Qualifer contests and focuses primarily on creating film and photography content in the backcountry as well as at Snowbird and other ski areas. When not skiing Hank enjoys biking, fly-fishing, hiking, and being on the water.
