The MacReady is your everyday short built for going the distance, made from a brawny cotton canvas fabric that can take a beating over a long lifespan.
Details
The MacReady Short is mostly cotton but has a trace of spandex for stretch. (Because you never know when you’re going to need to climb a tree, leap a river, or make a dash for an airplane.) The fabric uses a brawny cotton canvas for long-lasting durability, and we’ve fashioned side gussets for ample mobility when you’re in the saddle or on the go. You could ride your bike or take a hike in this do-it-all short, but mainly you’ll just live in it.

Regular Fit: A traditionally cut fit that sits comfortably and true to size. Not too baggy; not too tight. Right down the middle. This standard fit allows for plenty of maneuverability in a classic, everyday shape for daily life and active missions.
- We updated the sizing on this short to numeric sizing. Past seasons were traditional S,M,L,XL alpha sizing and past reviews are based on that. We felt that going to numeric sizing offered a more precise fit and feedback from friends, family and customers is that the new sizing is true to size chart, so feel comfortable ordering based on where you fit on the chart.
- Model in Boa and River is 6'1" 185 lbs with a 33" waist and is wearing a 34.
- Model in Rye is 6'1" 175 lbs and is wearing a 34 as well.

The MacReady Short Features
Like sunscreen, not all garments are created equal when it comes to sun protection. Some fabrics still let the sun in and don’t completely block those harmful rays. This product is equipped with a maximum 50+ UPF technology to protect your skin from the sun’s powerful rays. That means this garment will keep out over 98 percent of those UVAs and UVBs. You can now soak up the sun on the trail or water and come home with summer memories instead of a sunburn.
