Keep Up The Pace

Keep Up The Pace

There is no other skier in the world quite like Daron Rahlves. A World Cup and Olympic ski racing champion, he stood on 28 World Cup podiums (including 12 wins) over the course of his career and in 2003, he became the first American since 1959 to win the Hahnenkamm, a legendary downhill race in Kitzbühel, Austria. After retiring from the U.S. Ski Team in 2006, he hardly hung up his boards.

He began filming with Teton Gravity Research and Matchstick Productions, slashing steep spines in Alaska alongside the world’s top big-mountain skiers and notching segments in the film companies’ annual ski movies. He earned a Winter X Games gold medal in Skier X in 2008 and launched his own four-stop event in Tahoe called the Rahlves Banzai Tour, which combined the skills of ski cross with big-mountain terrain. Throughout it all, Rahlves, who’s been a Flylow athlete for years now, remains truly in love with the sport of skiing. “I will never stop skiing. Still to this day, I love it,” he says.
