In this new film, “Pedals to Powder,” Tara Forstner and Naomi Cranston head out on a 45-day bikepacking trip around New Zealand’s South Island. Their goal? Ski 23 club fields, the local, community-run ski areas that make up New Zealand’s grassroots ski scene. Shot documentary style, this short film—which was supported by Flylow, made the rounds at film festivals over the past two years earning laurels from; NZ Mountain Festival, The Big Bike Film Night, DocOnly and winning at the NZ Indie Film Fest. The film celebrates a unique ski culture that’s on the verge of extinction but rich in history.
