From our Life Bib to our Goodson Shorts, these must-have Flylow summer items were praised across the board by magazine editors and gear reviewers.
Picture a summer road trip—the car is loaded with bikes and backpacks and camping gear, and you don't want to deal with a ton of clothes to haul around. Just a small tote bag with a few essential items will do. In those moments, you want high-quality, thoughtfully made pieces (read: a couple of shirts, shorts, and a pair of pants) that will be functional in a wide range of activities, whether you're biking or floating the river. That's pretty much our design ethos here at Flylow: make versatile pieces you can wear all day long that are durable enough to last season after season. These six summer standouts got the highest of praises from our friends at places like Outside, Gear Junkie, and Elevation Outdoors.
Women's Life Bib
The women's Life Bib was named ' Gear Our Editors Loved' by Outside Magazine. "They're stylish, super lightweight, airy, quick dry, and made by women for women, to fit short-to-tall bodies, curves or not," reviewer Patty Hodapp writes. Outside also named the Life Bib overalls for every adventure you can imagine. "Flylow already proved themselves to be the master of ski bibs, so it only made sense for them to make a summer-oriented jumper for off-snow shenanigans The Life Bib is one of those put-it-on-and-leave-it-on pieces for a day that's packed full of activities—ready for road trips, tailgates, extreme disc golf, and mountain town dinner parties."
Women's Phoenix Shirt
The women's Phoenix Shirt was named by Singletracks among the best mountain bike clothing of the year. You know a shirt has passed the test when a gear reviewer doesn't want to take the item off after the ride is over and praises its crowd-pleasing fit. "The Flylow Women's Phoenix Shirt is a lightweight, breathable, and silky smooth button-up with snaps that I did not want to take off after testing," the review reads. "This shirt has a nice tailored overall fit with stretchy fabric throughout making it ideal when in motion on or off the bike."
Women's Portola Coveralls
Heading to a music festival? Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine called our women's Portola Coveralls good festival garb. "This snazzy but utilitarian outfit is the perfect getup for a day of festivities. Made with cotton and just a touch of Spandex, it stays cool on hot summer afternoons and it has just enough stretch for dancing all evening," the editor reports. We couldn't have said it better ourselves!
Men's Wesley Shirt
Another good piece for summer festivals: The Wesley Shirt, according to Elevation Outdoors magazine. "We got immediate compliments from our yoga teacher when we biked to class wearing this shirt," the magazine says. "Don it to stand out in the crowd. Plus, the stretchy, quick-dry fabric can handle everything from mosh pits to mountain bike rides."
Men's Hawk Short
Named amongst the best running shorts for men by Outside, the Hawk Shorts were touted as the best shorts to wear anywhere. "The Flylow Hawk are high-performing, well-pocketed shorts that won't make you look like a running nerd, the review states. 'These are officially my new favorite running shorts," tester Nathan Brown said. 'From the comfort of the brief liner to the aesthetics, these shorts ticked all the boxes.'"
Men's Goodson Short
Gear Junkie loves our Goodson Short, calling it one of the best mountain bike shorts of 2024. Compared to our more DH-focused long-inseam shorts and our lighter weight XC-style shorts, the "the Goodson lands right in the middle, with an 11.5-inch inseam that appeals to the trail-riding crowd," Gear Junkie says. Adding, "They are a great length and weight for everyday trail riding and are made by a small, independent apparel brand."
