Prepare to never take off these lifestyle essentials.
Here at Flylow, we’re known for our technical outerwear, the waterproof and breathable jackets and pants you can brave a storm in. But we also have a thing for everyday lifestyle wear that holds up to the rigors of mountain life but is a bit more, shall we say, casual. (Because unless you’re our friend Eben, who drives snowcats and coaches freeride skiing every day all winter long, you’re probably not wearing waterproof bibs day in and day out.)
The good news is that we bring the same attention to detail and focus on quality craftsmanship to our denim pants and flannels as we do to our backcountry shells and down insulation. This fall, we’re super proud of our new Habitat collection, which is what we call the clothes you’ll wear on the regular. We’re talking about warm puffy coats you can walk the dog in, tough trousers you can chop wood in, a fleece bathrobe you’ll wear to the hot tub, and a fleet of flannels you might never take off. Here’s a glimpse behind the curtain at how these new everyday essentials came to be.
Flannels Are Our Secret Sauce
If you’re like us, you have a trove of flannels in your closet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add another one to the lineup. If you already own and love our classic Handlebar Tech Flannel, a mainstay in the fall and winter, then you’re also going to appreciate our new Porter Wool Shirt, which has a similar fit and look as the Handlebar but with a blend of wool in the fabric, making it a touch warmer and softer. If you’re more into flannels that can double as lightweight jackets or more insulating midlayers, that’s the idea behind our new-for-this-fall Lassen Fleece Lined Flannel, which is lined with—you guessed it—fleece, and the always trusty Sinclair Insulated Flannel, which has a light layer of micropuff insulation. And because that’s still not quite enough, we made the Angus Flannel, another gem of a fall layer that comes with a zippered chest pocket and a sturdy warm fabric.
The women’s Brigitte Tech Flannel has been a staple in the line for ages now. It’s still a go-to for many of us, but we wanted to make sure you had more options. So, we added the May Flannel, which has a cozy fleece lining, and the Penny Insulated Flannel, which has a micropuff insulation.
Yup, We Make Jeans, Too
When you’re done wearing ski pants, you’ve got to put something else on, right? That’s where the Denim Ditch Pants come in. These aren’t your average jeans—they’ve got some give and stretch so you can move around and they’re made durable so you can get outside and do what you need to do. Our Trailworks Pant is made from a tough canvas fabric so it’s got workwear vibes but they’re still comfortable.
For women, we have the popular Trailworks Bib—our everyday durable overalls styled after our wintertime bibs—and the Life Bib, made from a lightweight stretch fabric.
Your New Favorite Around-Town Puffy
The design inspiration for the new women’s Truckee Down Parka comes from the idea that we know you don’t always want to wear your ski layers around town. You want something long and comfortable and super warm that’s just for throwing on when you’re running out the door. Truckee, California, is a ski town we love (and home to our design headquarters), so it’s fitting that this long down coat is named after this place. This will be a piece you wear all season long.
The Bathrobe You Didn’t Realize You Needed Until Now
Whenever we’re designing a new line, we always take a moment to think: What would be fun to create? What would make someone smile if they saw it? We never make useless stuff—that’s not in our DNA—but we do love creating products that don’t take themselves too seriously. That’s the idea behind our new bathrobe. If you’ve ever taken the long, cold walk from the hut to the sauna or the condo to the hot tub without proper coverage, then you’ll see why you need the new Wolfie Robe, an all-fleece bathrobe that travels well and dries quickly. It’s got a zippered pocket for your phone and hotel key and spacious internal pockets that can hold a few beverages for the tub.
