"So everyone knows about Tuckerman Ravine," says Ben Leoni. "But there are a ton of glacial cirques in the White Mountains that have fantastic skiing." Last spring, Leoni, a full-time lawyer and dedicated backcountry skier living in Portland, Maine, and the crew from Meathead Films headed to Huntington Ravine, a technical ski-mountaineering route known more for ice climbing than skiing. They followed that trip up with other lines off New Hampshire's Mount Washington and into the Presidential Range of northern New Hampshire.
Here's a video tribute to spring skiing on the East Coast and the peaks that are best skied during the warmer months of April and May. This is part of Meathead Films' "Working for the Weekend" film series, now in its second season. It's about Leoni and his passion to make the most of each weekend. "A lot of people think about April as the end of the ski season, but for me, it's really one of the best seasons of the whole year," Leoni says.
