When the mountains call, you must answer. Or at least that’s what happened to the four characters profiled in the newest season of Flylow’s webisode series, Westward, produced by KGB Productions and now in its second season. Westward follows the life stories of four unique individuals who’ve chosen to forgo traditional lives—like desk jobs in skyscrapers and 9-to-5 commutes—for alternative paths in the mountains. They have ventured out on their own, choosing to risk it all to follow their inexplicable devotion to snow-covered peaks. Through that leap, they have become their own bosses, setting their own destiny and breaking their own trail in a world that’s rugged, wild, and beautifully unknown.
In this season’s four episodes, you’ll meet photographer Adam Clark, who chases pro skiers around the mountains to capture images that grace the cover of Powder Magazine, and filmmaker Jonah Howell, a backcountry renegade who started a telemark movie company that garnered a cult following. You’ll glide uphill alongside Andrew McLean, a pioneer in the world of ski mountaineering who’s stood atop peaks far and wide, even when they tried to kill him. And you’ll get inside the thoughts of former big-mountain freeskiing competitor Louise Sanseau, who’s found a way to make a life in Jackson Hole by opening her own yoga studio.
These four have chosen a life out west, a life of their accord. As skiers, they’ve followed the storm into the mountains, and there, they’ve found what they came looking for.
