Noah Gaffney

Noah Gaffney started skiing at two years old, and as a youngster, he skied on the teams at Palisades Tahoe. At 9 years old, he joined the big mountain team. Soon after he began venturing into the backcountry with the guidance of his father, the late legendary freeskiing pioneer Robb Gaffney. "He taught me about avalanche safety and showed me how to make good choices when exploring the wilderness. My dad became my main partner for backcountry skiing and together we explored almost all the trails around Tahoe."says Noah. By 15, he had skied most of the major mountains around Tahoe, many in the Eastern Sierra, and multiple 14,000 peaks throughout California. He attended University of California Davis and achieved his academic goals while also driving back and forth to Tahoe to take down some ski goals as well. Noah sent some dream lines at his home mountain of Palisades Tahoe and landed a triple backflip. After graduating, Noah moved back up to Tahoe to be closer to family. "My dad lost his 4 year-long battle with cancer. It’s been hard without my Dad around, but every time I’m in the mountains I think of him and ski in a way that would make him proud." said Gaffney.
